What made you decide to become a Makeup Artist?
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, my love for makeup began at the age of 12. I remember trying different things in the mirror as I got ready for school. I’d play with glitter and put it in my inner eye and put different color lip gloss (they all came out clear) on my lips thinking I was doing something big. I always was creative. I pushed the limits within my age range and based on what my mother would allow. At 18, I was a free bird.I always practiced with different products and thus grew my knowledge and artistry skills. I shopped for the latest products and makeup brushes for my personal use. I tried different techniques to achieve the look I wanted and began to set trends. I evolved into a self taught artist.
With the help of mentors, I perfected my craft and officially began my career as a freelance makeup artist in 2014. I successfully worked at Dilliard’s and Macy’s as a Counter Manager and have had the opportunity to work with amazing artists.
When I’m not doing makeup, I am busy being a wife to my best friend Naeem and mother to five beautiful children: Kaleb, Kayla, Kaylee, Kaylin and Kali.
Got Any Pet Peeves?
I hate really thickened sculpted brows & overly done contour. Anything that’s unnatural. I also hate the smell of mint and toothpaste chunks in the sink. LMAO
Why is it important to hire a professional Make Up Artist for your Wedding?
What’s the best part about working with Brides?
Any well known clients?
Any Makeup trends you wish would go away?
Aggressive brows and too light highlighting and too dark contouring and crazy bold lashes with nothing else on! Girl! Where are you going with those lashes on?!
Describe your favorite style of weddings? Romantic? Fun? Traditional or Non Traditional? Large or Intimate?
How do you ensure your clients will have the best experience with your business?
My entire process from the inquiry to finale is an experience. I ensure that the booking process is seamless and informative. I make all my brides priority by ensuring they have my contact information and have unlimited access to me. My brides are never wondering when they’re going to hear back from me. We discuss their desired look as well as my deliverables. My goal is for no one to ever have to ask my brides anything on their wedding day other than “do you want a refill?”
How far in advance should a bride schedule a makeup trial?
As soon as a bride as secured her venue, she should be securing her bridal artist. I’m blessed to be in demand and encourage my brides to inquire sooner than later to ensure availability. Once you know that you’d like to work with a particular artist, inquire!
